 Proteins
Provide amino acids for healthy muscle development and regeneration
Fresh Lamb
Performatrin Ultra uses only the meat of human-grade, hormone-free, free-range Australian or New Zealand lamb. Choosing fresh meat means less processing, so the lamb is packed with natural flavor and essential amino acids.

Fresh Chicken
For a highly digestible protein to promote muscle development, we use chicken raised on an all-vegetable diet, without antibiotics, hormones, or steroids.

Salmon
Is power packed with a high concentration of protein. Also has far less saturated fat than an equal portion of virtually any meat source, and is an excellent source of Omega-3 polyunsaturated fats which are the “good” fats linked to smooth skin, a shiny coat, cellular health and joint care.

Menhaden Fish Meal
Menhaden fish (a member of the herring family) is a high-quality source of protein and Omega-3 essential fatty acids. Omega-3s are associated with coronary and immune response health as well as healthy joints.

Eggs
All-natural egg yolks and whites provide an excellent balance of the essential amino acids required for growth and muscle development. They are also good sources of fat energy and naturally occurring vitamin E. The Omega-3 and 6 fatty acids in eggs are associated with the maintenance of a healthy skin and coat. To satisfy labeling laws, this ingredient is listed on the bag as "Dried Egg Product" to confirm that no shells are included.

Whey Protein Concentrate
This lactose-removed ingredient contributes to a Higher Protein Diet. Higher protein and lower carbohydrates help reduce blood glucose levels, which contributes to lower body fat formation. Our Whey Protein also offers one of the highest concentrations of Leucine, which we further supplement, and is used in energy regulation and muscle tone maintenance.

 Fresh Fruits & Vegetables
Superb natural sources of vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and fiber
Fresh Whole Sweet Potatoes & Carrots
These fresh whole vegetables provide phytochemicals and carotenoids - antioxidants that provide protection against potential cancer-causing free radicals. Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of potassium and B vitamins. Carrots are high in Vitamin A and soluble fiber.

Peas
Peas are an all-natural source of B vitamins (especially niacin), potassium and soluble fiber.

Spinach
Spinach is one of the most potent sources of natural antioxidants. It also contains high levels of beta-carotene (a natural-source precursor of Vitamin A) and is a good source of natural vitamin K.

Fresh Whole Apples & Blueberries
These whole fruits are good sources of vitamin C and are high in antioxidants. They are also rich in pectin, associated with colon health and also thought to help control insulin levels by slowing the release of sugar into the blood stream. Blueberries also contain anthocyania - a mild antibiotic, thought to be effective against the intestinal bacteria that cause diarrhea.

 Essential Fatty Acids
Provide energy and promote healthy skin and coat
Olive Oil stabilized with mixed Tocopherols
Is a wonder oil offering Diacylglycerol (DAG) and a rich source of Omega 6 and 9 fatty acids. Unlike other dietary fat, DAG is a preferred cellular fuel that is burnt quickly, instead of being stored as body fat. Olive oil is the only vegetable oil that can be consumed freshly pressed from the fruit, and is an essential component of the “Mediterranean Diet”.

Sunflower Oil stabilized with mixed Tocopherols
An excellent source of Omega 6 fatty acids, sunflower oil contains approximately 65% linoleic acid, which promotes hair, coat and skin health in conjunction with dietary Omega 3 fatty acids. We keep the sunflower oil fresh with a blend of mixed tocopherols, which are naturally occurring antioxidants found in cereal grains, eggs and beef liver. The most active of these antioxidants is alpha-tocopherol, or vitamin E.

Whole Flaxseed
Flaxseed provides protein, fiber and essential fatty acids - especially linolenic acid (an Omega 3 fatty acid). It also contains high levels of linoleic acid (an Omega 6 fatty acid). Flaxseed is one of few vegetable sources of linolenic and is a valuable ingredient because it supplies both Omega 3 and 6.

 Herbs & Natural Supplements
Garlic
Garlic contains antioxidants that help protect against infection by enhancing the immune system. It has also been associated with promoting blood-pressure control. When crushed, garlic releases allicin - associated with the reduction of blood clot formulation - which helps to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. Garlic is also a natural source of several minerals including iron, manganese, potassium and selenium, and the vitamins A and C.

Basil
Basil is well known for its digestive properties, typically aiding the digestion process and the expulsion of gas. Basil also contains the antioxidant monoterpenes, which has been associated with positive cardiovascular health.

Sage
Sage, a natural-source food flavoring, is also a source of antioxidants. It is associated with lowering blood sugar and is a natural antiseptic.

Dandelion
Dandelion has been used extensively in European herbal diets to treat diabetes and liver ailments. It has been associated with building up the blood in the treatment of anemia. Dandelion acts as a diuretic, a mild laxative and digestive aid. It is also high in vitamins A and C.

Rosemary
The oil in rosemary possesses antioxidant properties that are believed to help detoxify the heart and liver systems.

Alfalfa Meal
Alfalfa is a herb containing abundant amounts of essential calcium and trace minerals (particularly zinc, iron and manganese), as well as beta-carotene (vitamin A) and vitamin C.

Brewers Yeast
Brewers yeast is an excellent source of well-balanced B-group vitamins and a good source of both protein and chromium - a mineral helpful in regulating sugar metabolism.

Kelp
Kelp, a sea plant, is an excellent source of naturally chelated iodine essential for thyroid health. It is also a good source of many other naturally chelated minerals including bromine, iodine, potassium and sodium.

 Whole Grains
    Source of energy and fiber
Whole Brown Rice & White Rice
Rice is a source of high quality, easily digested carbohydrate energy. The bran portion of brown rice provides essential B vitamins and trace minerals, as well as both soluble and insoluble fiber, important for colon health.

Whole Barley
Whole barley is a good source of carbohydrate energy, B vitamins, insoluble fiber (for colon health) and soluble fiber (for lowering cholesterol levels).

Oatmeal
Oatmeal contains beta-glucan (a natural cholesterol fighter) and is an excellent source of carbohydrates.

Whole Rye
Rye is an excellent source of carbohydrate energy and a good source of fiber without the allergenic properties of wheat.

 Supplemental Vitamins & Minerals

The wholesome foods in Performatrin Ultra are natural sources of many essential vitamins and minerals. To ensure every dog's needs are completely satisfied, supplemental quantities of certain vitamin and minerals are added.

Vitamin A / Beta Carotene
Vitamin A is necessary to maintain bones, teeth, hair, skin, eyes and mucous membranes. It is also important to the immune system - especially in preventing respiratory infections. It is a building block for rhodopsin, a compound in the retina responsible for night vision. Vitamin A exists in most vegetable foods in the form of Beta Carotene. The body converts this form to the active vitamin. Beta Carotene, however, also plays a role in other important body functions such as reproductive efficiency.

Vitamin D3
Vitamin D3 is essential for proper calcium and phosphorus metabolism to maintain strong bones and teeth - and a healthy immune system. A deficiency in Vitamin D3 can result in rickets and osteomalacia.

Vitamin E (Alpha-tocopherol)
Vitamin E is an antioxidant and free-radical scavenger - playing an effective role in neutralizing some of the free radicals that cause cell damage. Additional benefits include healthy a role in healthy red blood cell formation and immunity protection.

Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin)
Vitamin B12 is great for healthy growth and hemoglobin production.

Niacin
Niacin is an essential component of healthy nerves and skin. It prevents the disease pellagra, characterized by a black tongue. It also supports the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, and helps reduce blood cholesterol and triglycerides.

Choline Chloride
Choline is a vitamin that helps store, release and metabolize body fat.

Vitamin B6
(Calcium Pantothenate)
Helps transform carbohydrates into energy. It also promotes normal growth and maintains a healthy nervous system.

Vitamin B2
(Riboflavin)
Riboflavin plays an important role in the maintenance of healthy ligaments, nerves, skin and eyes. It also aids in the release of energy from food. In conjunction with vitamin A and other nutrients, riboflavin helps maintain healthy mucous membranes.

Vitamin B1
(Thiamine Hydochloride)
Vitamin B1 is essential for the metabolism of carbohydrates and protein. It plays an important role in maintaining a healthy nervous system.

Vitamin B6
(Pyridoxine Hydrochloride)
Pyridoxine Hydrochloride is essential to the proper metabolism of proteins, and in the transformation of the Omega-6 fatty acid, linoleic acid, into arachidonic acid (an Omega-3 fatty acid).

Folic Acid
Folic Acid plays an important role in growth and in the formation and maintenance of healthy blood and skin. It also helps maintain the nervous system, intestinal tract, sex organs, and white blood cells.

Vitamin K
(Menadione Dimethylpyrimidinol Bisulfite)
Vitamin K is essential for blood coagulation. It promotes normal growth and development, and good bone health.

Biotin
Biotin is active in the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins. It promotes the normal health of sweat glands, nerve tissue, bone marrow, blood cells, skin and hair.

Chelated Minerals
Mineral absorption is improved when chelated ('complexed' or bound) with an amino acid. Many chelated minerals are naturally supplied through Performatrin Ultra's wholesome food ingredients. These have been supplemented with additional chelated minerals as follows to ensure that your dog's body has an adequate supply at its disposal.

  • Zinc is an essential trace mineral, important in the maintenance of healthy skin, hair and mucous membranes. It helps maintain normal taste and sense of smell, aids in healing and promotes a healthy immune system. Zinc is also involved in DNA and RNA synthesis, and is therefore essential for normal growth.
  • Iron helps prevent anemia by stimulating the bone-marrow production of hemoglobin (the red-blood-cell pigment that carries oxygen to body cells). Iron is also required for the formation of several body enzymes and proteins.
  • Manganese is an essential mineral required for normal growth and development. Its most noted functions are in carbohydrate metabolism and connective tissue formation.
  • Cobalt helps promote the production of red blood cells and is involved in both body enzyme reactions and the formation of myelin nerve coverings essential for transmission of nerve impulses.
  • Copper is an essential mineral that helps prevent anemia by enabling the storage and release of iron to form hemoglobin for red blood cells. Copper also has a role in other body functions, including the production of several respiratory enzymes, and the formation of connective tissue.

 Probiotics
Probiotics are often called "friendly bacteria" because they promote normal bowel health and therefore aid digestion. Probiotics also produce B vitamins. They increase the absorption of nutrients, including calcium, which is important in the prevention of osteoporosis (bone degeneration).

Populations of both friendly (good) and bad bacteria are naturally found in an animal's intestines. Probiotics improve a dog's health by producing substances that keep the population of bad bacteria in check. This is important because many debilitating and degenerative diseases begin in the intestinal tract. Dietary supplementation of probiotics is intended to assist colon health and functions.

Research suggests that administering friendly bacteria can help protect pets from harmful bowel bacteria. Since probiotics can be killed by heat, they are sprayed onto the cooled kibble after cooking.

Performatrin Ultra contains the following types of probiotics: Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Bacillus Subtilis, Bifidobacterium Thermophilum, Bifidobacterium Longum and Enterococcus Faecium.

 Prebiotics
Prebiotics are naturally occurring compounds that are added to either feed the friendly bacteria or limit the damage done by the bad bacteria in the intestines. Including prebiotics in the diet is intended to assist digestion, inhibit instances of diarrhea and help reduce fecal odor.

Performatrin Ultra contains the following types of prebiotics:
  • Mannanoligosaccharides (MOS) Research suggests this prebiotic, found in yeast cell walls, prevents bad bacteria from binding to the upper intestine. Instead, bacteria binds to the prebiotic and is then removed from the system during regular elimination.
  • Chicory Root Extract is a natural source of fructooligosaccharides (FOS), a prebiotic that is a food for the friendly bacteria.
  • Yucca Schidigera Extract (from the desert plant, Yucca, common to Mexico and South America) contains a prebiotic compound that helps feed the population of friendly bacteria in the intestinal tract. Yucca extract has also been shown to promote protein absorption and help reduce the production of ammonia - responsible for the strong odor in animal waste.
